Special Information For Women Under 18

In the State of Rhode Island if you are under 18 years of age, you are required by law to have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian to terminate a pregnancy. For women who cannot involve a parent or legal guardian, or choose not to, the law allows for a judicial bypass. This means that a judge may decide that a woman is mature enough herself to make the decision to terminate a pregnancy, without parental consent. Our counselors are trained to help you through this process, and can explain the steps you will need to take if you decide that judicial bypass is your best option.
